Quick update on the band known as The Give-Outs. We’re planning on heading back into the studio next week for harmonies and vocal fixes, plus one lyric change. Then, next weekend, track two new songs.
We now have six songs that we’re happy with and another three or four on the way. Vince recorded drums with us one session. After knowing him for ten years, it was great to finally get to do something with him. Last night, I got in the studio and re-cut vocals for “Don’t Let ’em In,” finally realizing – holy shit – you can hear your vocals when you turn the fucking music down. I think Richard is planning to double track the vocals in the verses, which should sound good. Also, I think we’ve decided on cover art for this album that no one will ever listen to. Hopefully, we can get back in the studio over Xmas break, assuming everyone stays in town. I’d really like to get this finished this year.
I’ve got some new lyrics for a song that should be about a minute long, sort of an album closer. My original thought was to flesh it out into a full song but I think maybe it’s more effective like this.
