So practice went well with J.D. and we were able to run through eight songs. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a mic, so I may have to buy one. He told us about a studio he likes called 5 & Dime in Cooper Young. Harry, the owner, charges very reasonable rates, perfect for this low-key thing we’re doing. J.D.’s out of pocket until the 20th, and then maybe we can jump in and start recording the first song. I would think we could get a song done in eight hours, right? Finally finished lyrics for one of mine that we’ll record soon. Lyrics are fucking hard.
The wheel of progress finally begins turning again. Richard and I got together last Thursday to run through a few songs that we could work up with J.D. He also brought over his brand-spanking-new Rickenbacker 4003W. Really nice, and dammit, it made me want a Rick all over again. Anyway, we head downtown in a couple of hours to see what happens. I’m not expecting much, as first practices are typically unproductive, but I may be pleasantly surprised.
